Thank you, Eric Moyer, for demonstrating that publishing scripts inside of ebooks is feasible and can remain faithful to the standard formatting. What's so nice about what's been done inside this book is that the script text can wrap within the confines of the viewing device (tablet vs. smartphone, portrait vs. landscape) and still look like a script layout. What this means (for someone with older eyes like mine) is that the font size can be adjusted without harming the overall format of the script. While the industry will likely continue to use the PDF format for actual scripts, the ability to contain scripts or script segments within ebooks means that non-production readers can enjoy reading on their device of choice. Scripts in PDF format just don't render well on smartphones or small screens and don't accommodate font size changes. Where I see a future for this is in script annotation, much like annotated classics. It would be interesting to read analysis and criticism along side the formatted original script. I think Mr. Moyer has demonstrated that this is possible. Would be nice to see more ebooks published around popular scripts. For instance, I have a paper book of scripts from Buffy the Vampire Slayer which contains an actual Joss Whedon script from season 2. Would be wonderful to be able to get that in an ebook release.
