This has terrific potential but how could Harvey hope to negotiate the music rights minefield? Any idea on getting a copy of the script?

Mike, you can download the script for Nowhere Boy here.

Thanks! I appreciate that.

Yeah, thanks for the script. How do you find these things? I guess your the "Everywhere man".

There's a great website here and they do an amazing job getting screenplays posted online. That's the best source I've found. And there are some people I know in LA who are pretty rabid about circulating scripts, so I use them from time to time.

I sometimes have to stop and remember how difficult it was to get scripts back in 1987 when I broke in. I basically had to woo various assistants around town to borrow scripts, then Xerox them, then return them. Also sweet talked some readers who gave me scripts from time to time. Then when I started to get to know working screenwriters, each of them had their 'stash', so it was more Xeroxing.

It's so freaking easy nowadays, so whenever I talk about the 'early' days, I invariably sound like the old fart going on and on about having to walk 5 miles through the snow in the pitch dark to school blah blah.

But let me put things in perspective: In 1987, Warner Bros still employed a fleet of women who would get scripts writers worked on for WB, only to TYPE THE SCRIPTS ON ELECTRIC TYPEWRITERS per the official WB format. You heard that right -- ELECTRIC TYPEWRITERS. In 1987!

You young whippersnappers have it so easy nowadays...
