I think this is a fine idea for a remake, myself.

Have you ever read the original OLD YELLER? It's a good book, and even more interesting, the author wrote a followup featuring the same characters, I unfortunately don't remember the title ... it's a brutal story, yet very involving (the kids get kidnapped by Indians) and I remember thinking when I read it that it would make a really good movie (though it's been YEARS since I read it) but a very, very different one from OLD YELLER ... it's be like THE SEARCHERS told from the POV of Natalie Wood.

Hmm, now I may have to look up the book again ... I just remember it was pretty brutal for a young adult book ... then again, OLD YELLER was pretty tough, too.

Anyway, obviously I've digressed ... heheh.

Just looked it up, it's called SAVAGE SAM ... Sam is the dog, he's the son of yeller ...

Screw "True Grit." The Coen brothers should a copy of the script I wrote, "Indians of the Ancient Plains." They'd love it.

BUT because I'm an unknown, we all are going have to suffer through he re-hashed, re-heat.

Ugh! I hate to see talent wasted. Remaking "True Grit" IS A WASTE!
