While not at all a hit when released, television, once the enemy of features, provided steady exposure which gradually contributed to Night Of The Hunter's current status as a Classic. Significant of this in 2010 the prestigious French film publication Cahiers du Cinema cited this movie as Number 2 behind only Citizen Cane on the list of Greatest Films of all time.

Wow, I had no idea it ranked so high with French cinephiles. I'll have to see it again. Only remember pieces of it, but quite memorable scenes, some of which highlighted in this post.
