I've mentioned to my mom that if I sell something before graduating college and it sells well, I will probably drop out of school to head out the LA. I've mentioned it twice. Both times my mom did the over-the-phone equivalent of sticking one's fingers in their ears and going "lalalalala." That is to say...both times it didn't go over well. It's a reality my mom believes is quote "a really stupid idea."

How did I even got on this subject? Oh...that's right. A seven figure pitch. Wow.

Nicholas, you can try two words with your mom: Steven. Spielberg. He applied three times to USC's School of Theater, Film, and Television, and was rejected each time. I believe he attended Cal State Long Beach for a while, but didn't graduate (unless he received an honorary degree at some point).

I have spoken to my screenwriting professor about it, and he agrees wholly with me. He's kind of taken me under his wing here, which is nice... I am the only one at my school who appears to actively be seeking to make it in the biz as a writer. But anyway, I know my professor never went to film school. He did graduate college though.

Another example would be Josh Schwartz. He dropped out when he was a junior because he sold a pilot. Then under the guidance of McG (who I would love to meet), he became the youngest creator/showrunner on network TV. He was 26. I know it's a lofty goal, but I want to do that before 25. Though it's still early, I had an opportunity handed to me that, should everything play out perfectly, make that happen well before then.

However for that to happen, in all likelihood I would be dropping out of college to do that. My mom would have a conniption fit over it. If it ever comes to it, though, I will pull in every famous example of it working out in order to convince her.
