1987 was the year of the Reagan recession, how was Box Office that year?

I do think there's also a correlation with the material ... 1989 was not just the year of BATMAN, but the year indies began to grow outside their parameters and make money in other areas (SEX, LIES AND VIDEOTAPE made 29 million off of a 1.5 mil budget, and played in malls, something an indie didn't do before) and also change our cultural tastes ... whereas in 85, mainstream films followed a particular pattern which may have stagnated for the public.

I'd also note that in 83, throughout the 80s, cable tv boomed ... changed our viewing habits, which affect box office ... and until movies utilized rather than competed with cable, movies got hurt ... imoho, of course.

I don't know for sure, just guessing ... but films goers don't live in isolation ... video games, dvds, music, cable, it's linked ... right?

Just musing ...

During January and February of 2007 there were 127 script sales.

During Jauary and February of 2009 there were 151 script sales.

That equates to a 19% increase -- I guess the $64,000 question will be....

How many actually get made.
