Scott, dunno' if you had a chance to screen his latest, Inherent Vice, but I'd be very intrigued, from a screenwriting standpoint, what your thoughts were on it. I loved it but I'm a Pynchon fan so I was certainly nothing if not a guy with the 'target market' bullseye on my back. As a 'movie,' though, the film could certainly be seen as very...troubling. In a sense, Anderson made, at best, one of the best Pynchon book reports ever. At worst, all the negative ink this film has received is accurate...it's meandering, somewhat aimless, almost intentionally off-putting and impenetrable to the average viewer. I've defended this film until blue in the face in my little cinema-geek sewing circle but in the back of my mind, I know I don't really have a leg to stand on! :D
