My take: Opening: Mason tells a funny story involving one of the kids as an underwear-clad Sammy makes a break for freedom. End of Act I: After introducing the group home’s dynamics, the kids’ basic struggles and the uninvited force that will rock the protagonist’s world (Jayden), Act I ends after the p.22-26 scene, when Mason tries to get close to Grace and she smacks him in the face. Midpoint: Grace has seemingly decided to move forward with her life and have a baby, and so she tells Mason she’s pregnant (p.38-39). End of Act II: After things have unraveled in the group home and Grace has found out her worst nightmare (her father’s release from prison) is coming true, Grace freaks out and throws all the progress she’s made away, breaking up with Mason outside the hospital (p.68-69). Ending: Mason tells a touching story about one of the kids as an underwear-clad Sammy makes a break for freedom. I also noticed there are four main sequences with the kids that illustrate the greater group’s dynamics at the time. And it struck me that Marcus and Jayden also experience a basic protagonist arc – that a protagonist seems fine until forced to change, and they have to completely unravel in order to build themselves back up better, stronger and wiser. Jayden’s journey starts with being forced into the home; Marcus’ begins with the fear that he’s about to leave it.

Good work, mkm28. I especially like your point about transformation in characters other than Grace: Marcus and Jayden both go through a metamorphosis. And like Grace, these two go through a Deconstruction period before experiencing Reconstruction. I think your assessment of the four primary plot points is pretty spot-on. It's interesting to note how the end of Act Two is a long series of scenes from 58-69. It is an inordinately long sequence for a script of this short length, but it works which proves once again, there are no set formulas for telling a good story.
