Scott, how do you think these circumstances will affect this year's spec season?

I doubt much at all. Most spec scripts are procured by the major studios although we've already seen this one sell this year, picked up by a smaller production company. It's a funny development, coming on the heels of the majors dumping most of their specialty divisions -- and now the two projects mentioned in the NY Times article feel very much like specialty fare. Perhaps if these movies are successful, that will attract more people to similar type funding entities, which in turn could create more of a spec market for these type of scripts.
