Damn, Joshua, so someone else did see Who Am I This time>! And it help spur you to go into acting. The transformation of Walken's character from who he is in 'real' life to what he becomes on stage is remarkable, shows the power and reach of acting.

The library I used to work at had a copy of this movie on video tape, and I watched it years ago being a huge Kurt Vonnegut fan.

I have a vague recollection of a movie version of "Harrison Bergeron" another Vonnegut short story, but although I can't remember much about the film, it seems it didn't quite work.

In response to your question about non-typical short stories, Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" comes to mind. I believe there were at least a couple of film versions

Stephen King. Guy even created an alter ego that wrote more of his "fantasy-based" stuff, as opposed to the horror tales.

But I'd say, On Writing is a very different book than either the horror or fantasy stuff.

It's basically a memoir -- and at the same time a How To book. It reads with very much the same voice, but has a completely different feel than any of his other books.

James, the Stephen King reference is a great one. People think of him as a horror writer, but then there's Shawshank, Green Mile, fantasy stories, etc.
