Man, that's brilliant. It's been a little while since I've seen this movie. I'm thinking I should watch it again. Or at least, read the book, which I've also been meaning to do. Alex is a fascinating character.

Dana had us watch one of Kubrick's earlier films, Paths of Glory, as part of his first assignment for us. It's totally different from Clockwork, and it was interesting see them back to back--it doesn't even seem like the same person wrote and directed them. I guess that's the difference a decade can make.

Clockwork Orange is still as disturbing as it ever was. While all his pictures are different, he always manages to create a separate and strange world for his characters to inhabit. And, even when it's a bizarre as this one, or 2001, I am willing to believe and accept it--get lost in it.
