A great moment, with a sharp twist in dialogue. It's not commonplace "spy" dialogue, however. (Pls don't ask me for examples of commonplace spy dialogue in film. I have the memory of a worn sock.) Yes, spy dialogue is often cagey, as it is here. It goes forward as a kind of verbal grope, but it oftentimes concerns tradecraft, as in the PBS le Carre series. Unlike print (my world), film dialogue relies heavily on the actors' tone of voice, the pauses, facial ticks, etc. Of course, in every case, IMHO, the words depend on the establishment of the speaker's character. We really don't like this guy who's shivering in his car ready to ambush Jason. I wonder if there's any dialogue available from "Three Days of the Condor," which was originally *Six Days of the Condor* in print? Bourne exists in a world where the all-powerful fights the all-knowing. But, Condor is so damn human. (And it's the only example I can pull at the moment.)
