Wow, what a bizzare pairing!

You could tell Hecht was mostly patronizing Kerouac but that's probably because there couldn't two more different individuals from such divergent backgrounds. Hecht was mostly an old school journalist who was no stranger to grinding out words for a dime. Kerouac had slightly loftier concerns.

It's amusing how dangerous Kerouac's lifestyle was to folks back then and how tame he'd seem if he lived today.
