Boy I'd love to get the Go Into the Story barometer on THIS film. I saw it Thursday night and enjoyed the heck out of it but it certainly smashed and shattered all of my innate screenwriting bones for it's 2.5 hour running time. What does one make of a film like this, from a screenwriting sense? Granted it's a slavish adaptation of a novel (as much as, say, the first few Harry Potter films, which have their share of dramatic quirks because they kowtow to their source material so subserviently) and because of this, I feel it's both a rousing success while still being somewhat of a failure as a film (er, if that makes any sense...)
