Thank YOU, Michael. It's funny, as I've promoted both lists (WGA and IMDb) for years to encourage people to read scripts and watch movies. But it never once occurred to me to look at which titles did / did not appear on the respective lists. So kudos to you for highlighting an interesting bit of business in screenwriting world!

Thanks, Michael! The silent films of Charlie Chaplin make sense as they likely didn't have much in the way of a script or at least one that survived. A lot of movies from the 90s forward and may 'suffer' in the eyes of WGA members as not being 'classic'. That said, surprising to see three Kubrick titles -- A Clockwork Orange, Paths of Glory, 2001: A Space Odyssey -- not on the WGA list. At least one of them deserves recognition simply due to the distinctive nature of Kubrick and his writing cohorts' unique storytelling vision. Curious as to others' analysis of the lists. When I was looking at both lists I found that I actually preferred the films that were on IMDB's list, but not on the WGA's list. I didn't originally think that would be the case, but it does make sense to me since IMDB's list seems have many more recent (or relatively recent) films on it that I would be more familiar with due to my age (I'm in my 20s).

Blake, I empathize with you. The WGA list does suffer from 'classicitis', at least perceived that way. Could be argued my peers just don't connect with or respect as many of the more contemporary movies. Or it could be that the WGA list, which is several years old, needs some freshening up. There are plenty of great movies and scripts that have come out in the last few years alone. Hell, I'd add Boyhood and Birdman to the list right now.
