While I do daydream about a wealthy and luxurious lifestyle as a filmmaker, I always come back to simply just wanting to tell stories and make movies. I want to make a modest living being able to write from wherever my family is. I have four kids who are growing up faster than I care to admit, and to not have to "punch a clock" everyday but rather be there in the morning when they go to school and be there when they get home and write all the hours in between is the true dream. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy (again) this past weekend and it's movies like these that remind me just how much I want that to be me. That I want to tell a story and make a movie so epic that it just sticks with you. I remember Good Will Hunting and Titanic being unshakeable as well. It's these movies that made me want to write. I wrote my third feature this past year but the first I've ever done something with. I entered my first contest and sent out over 250 query letters. I've had a nice number of requests. I have learned a tremendous amount in just the past six months. I have already begun the next script. This one I know will be better than the last one. I will try this one in another contest and on the blacklist. I believe I I will option or sell a spec script in 2015. Lofty I know, but as Scott said, today it's ok to have our heads in the clouds.
