I'm curious of how the Coens write. Do they outline? Do they spend weeks or years working over an idea? Do they prefer adaptations?
Every writer seems to have a different method from someone like Milch who religiously (literally religiously) never outlines anything, nor even thinks about the story or characters before actually writing, to the more formulaic studio imposed outlining methods.
