The story of how Back to the Future got to the screen is almost as fascinating as the movie itself. Apparently, the original draft wasn't that good but had a spark. The writers to their credit took a year and made wholesale changes writing and re-writing it till it resembled what's on the screen. The original draft was rejected by everyone but these guys never gave up. Maybe someone here who has read the original draft and the subsequent draft knows more about what was changed and the background of how these guys went from rejection to one of the greatest movies of all time. Any future authors should probably put a Back to the Future making of in their book.
