Great post. Just wanted to mention that in Ontario, Canada, Graham Yost is well know, but it's his father who is really famous. Elwy Yost used to host several shows on public television here, the best known was "Saturday Night at the Movies" a double feature (generally Hollywood movies from the 30's, 40's and 50's) with commentary by Elwy Yost, as well as interviews conducted by him. He came across as warm, affable, and kind, a favorite uncle who loved movies. As a result he managed to get interviews with many stars, directors and writers from the golden age of Hollywood. He wasn't interested in gossip, or controversy, just hearing good stories about Hollywood. Here he interviews the screenwriter DeWitt Bodeen. You can get a taste of Yost's personality in the interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z48Ezg9mOWA Elwy Yost had an enormous influence on a whole generation of young movie lovers in this part of Canada - whether they became involved in the movie business or not. I can only assume that his love of movies had an indelible effect on his son. When Yost retired from hosting Saturday Night at the Movies, he showed one last movie: Speed.

Thank you very much Markham! Elwy Yost seems like a perfectly jovial interviewer, truly interested and invested in his guests. I LOVE learning about film history from all over the world...especially Canadian Film History, because there needs to be MUCH MORE written about. Toronto is one of my favorite Cinema Cities. It has incredible top level film festivals: Toronto International Film Festival, Hot Docs along with fests for every culture and genre imaginable. I love Toronto's fabulous independent movie theaters: The Royal, TIFF Bell Lighthouse, great organizations like: Canadian Film Centre, National Film Board, Telefilm, the on-going cool events and all the movie production that is constantly happening. I can't forget Toronto's great filmmakers: David Cronenberg, Sarah Polley, Norman Jewison, Sarah Polley, Atom Egoyan and acting talent: Dan Akroyd Kim Cattrall, Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Jim Carrey and John Candy. Along with Vancouver and Montreal, Canadian cinema has much to enjoy!
