True, Jeff. Some stories are probably best left unwritten. A more common frustration I keep hearing about in my interface with writers is they have stories they believe are good and want to write, but just can't seem to wade through, find time, motivation, etc. I know this for a fact because I've seen it happens a LOT: Some writers can use the structure of a writing workshop to engage them in the process and compel them from concept stage to outline to FADE IN to FADE OUT. I've worked with dozens and dozens of writers who have NEVER finished a script before, but in the context of a workshop, they DID. This can be a HUGE thing, breaking through that membrane. Because once a writer HAS written a complete script, they develop a kind of confidence, based on personal experience, which they can take into the next project... and the next project. Plus the invaluable lessons they learn in the writing process of writing practices, writing principles, giving and receiving feedback, establishing connections with other writers, etc. Workshops not for everyone, but definitely of value to some writers.
