Wow, that is a WILD ONE, DSI. You've still go your chops 21 days in. Impressive!

Really good premise. I see you and raise you a "what if". What if the leader and most vocal member of a "desaparecidos" group turns out to be an impostor? That person could have invented a missing relative for the publicity or the money or just to feel important/needed (sort of like a Munchausen by proxy in absentia). But from that lie a whole movement grew that over the years managed to truly help a lot of people. Many years and humanitarian awards later the lie is discovered. What would be the repercussions on the person? Would the people forgive and forget, or would that person become a pariah? What about the organisation and the people that were helped? (I am being influenced by the Lance Armstrong doping debacle, of course.)

Interesting spin, Ricardo. We see stories pretty regularly in the press about this or that public figure who has built their career upon a lie. Football coaches, politicians, and so on. What would somebody do to protect their public image? Right now, Ben Affleck is coming under fire for trying to erase the fact that some of his ancestors were slave owners (PBS is getting slammed on this, too). In fact, the whole impostor dynamic is a trope we've seen in several movies from mistaken identity stories to ones where characters consciously pretend to be someone or something they're not. Food for thought when brainstorming story ideas.
