Scott, currently I'm working on a rewrite of an epic fantasy novel that I started work on in the mid-90s, got a draft done by 2002, then stopped work on alltogether as I wrote 18 spec. scripts. Think "Lord of the Rings" with (hopefully) more interesting characters. Starts with a dragon fight, ends with a dragon. And in between I have 3 love stories that playout. - E.C. I'm currently working on something that will either be a novel or a screenplay--still not sure. It's a very modern urban fantasy that has a very small intimate story. Not too action-packed. I mostly afraid of it getting swamped in a lot of the other YA magic movies but I think I got some tricks up my sleeve to make it stand out a little.

Currently - I'm finishing the final first draft for The Filly, a biopic with a lot licence ... A naive wife invites her estranged step daughter into the home in hopes of rekindling love and family. She ends up fighting for her life resulting a kick-ass 'girl' wild west horse race and gun fight. The back drop is Louisville, Churchill Downs, thoroughbred racing.

I'm starting a workplace-based comedy set in the immediate future with a strong science fiction element. "Liar, Liar" meets "The Devil Wears Prada" meets "Men in Black."

It's been years since I've posted, however I'm currently working on a bio-pic about a WWII Office of Strategic Services agent, finishing up an additional episode for my Women's Airforce Service Pilots miniseries, and am working on a spec for the new series Manhattan.

I'm working on the second half of Act 2 of a political dramedy. I know that I'll have to completely redo Act 1, but I'm fighting the urge to look at it again until I finish the first draft.

Something wildly outside my comfort zone: a rom-com, with a magical plot McGuffin. I've got two working titles, either Nobody's Perfect [a big generic, but neatly captures the underlying theme] or Six Ways to Fix a Guy in Six Days [a big post-millennial].

I am working on my scene cards for the first rewrite of my Sci-Fi story set in the future where mankind attempts to retake earth from their last outpost on the moon. I wrote the first draft in two weeks over last Christmas break. Excited to get back into it. -Jim (Seattle, WA)

I'm outlining and researching a spy thriller. I accidentally wrote the first act when I was playing around with the hook, then realized I had a proper script in there. So I've decided to backtrack and write a full outline and postcard it scene by scene. Still excited by it. Slug: An NSA cryptographer finds himself at the center of a battle between American and Russian spy agencies after the FSB uncover a secret from his family’s past. Michael (Belfast)

Finished a first draft of a drama feature last week with writers group made up of some of the Black Boarders and GITS community, which was a fun way to write. Genre of the script itself was heavy drama, period current, tone tense, but centering on close, loving family relationships, and hopefully with an uplift and an ember of hope at the end. Story idea generated in reaction to news reports. Deciding now between writing that same feature as a novel, or a much lighter subject for an animated feature. So, in other words, this week I'm focused on procrastinating. Might add I've never finished a novel, well, not yet. :-)

returning to a 12 yr old spec. exciting to see it still holds and horrifying to see how bad my writing was then

That sounds like an exciting premise. Sounds like something that would jump off a query. Good luck.

I'm writing a comedy/drama period retake on history similar in tone to Shakespeare in Love. I'm halfway through and chewing on the idea of changing into a musical. Crazy, I know…but why the hell not!
uncgym44 at 2014-08-04 20:56:40:
This idea sounds fun. Theme park settings have a lot that can be done with them.

Rewriting a rom-com about a romance-starved artist that falls in love with her thesis sculpture; set in present day Detroit. I live in metro Detroit and research has been great. Thanks to a burgeoning artist "occupation," the DIA and 2 fine arts colleges, Detroit is bringing "sexy back."
Nicholas Cochran Allan at 2014-08-04 21:44:17:
I'd say it's a Neo-Noir Crime Thriller on the road.

1. Finishing up latest round of edits for spec drama Shakespeare adaptation -- hopefully up on the Board for feedback before the end of the month. 2. Will then pick back up and continue detailing and outlining a fantasy/drama/horror adaptation. 3. Got rough loglines and concepts sketched-out for an original drama, as well as a female-protagonist action drama.... Too many ideas swimming around on the last few. Need to check the others off mentally first!

This spring and summer I have finished drafts of: -A drama/comedy dealing with addiction (120 pages). -A genre buster that deals with dreams, demons, and time travel (89 pages). I'm near completion of: -A huge fantasy epic (100 pages down of probably 150). I'm gearing up for: -A science fiction adventure. -And shit-loads of rewrites.

A story about someone who is laid off, kills his supervisor and manager, gets away with it, then goes out on the job market. Based (partially) on a true story. Sort of a very dark Office Space.

About to finish a script. I'm on the spelling and punctuation proofreading stage. 3rd draft or so, depending on how you count drafts. I'm quite happy about how this one turned out, and I'm very excited to be moving on to the next story.

Hi Scott, I just finished draft 1.1 (intuition only!) of a mid-life crisis coming-of-age time travel drama. Now I'm starting a Brit goes to the U.S.A. environmental rom-com before I go back for rewriting the story I mentioned above. After that about 35 story concepts more wait for the execution. Best regards, Dennis Fischer

Something a little different - teamed up with a producer (UK) to option a series of books with the intention to adapt into 6 X 1hr TV - typical (UK) Sunday evening fare - somewhere between '"Jeeves & Worcester" and "Mapp & Lucia". A couple of meetings already set-up where we'll go over the proposal - currently working on 1st Draft of Pilot, so I'm ready if they come asking!

I'm still studying. I want to master the craft through learning before I begin writing. I figure I have about another year before I move to L.A. and start my screenplay. I've had this idea in my head for years. It's all I think about is my spare time. All my creative energy is geared towards this script, which is basically about a guy who misses home -- a lot more complicated, obviously, but I can't give it away! I can't wait to start it and when I finish I'll be sure to upload it to The Blacklist to get some feedback.

Recently finished early draft of one romantic comedy, and am now rewriting another rom com for which I did a few drafts last year. New title too. This will be title #3 for it, so going with that "third time's a charm" thing...
