Hi Scott, Definitely do this again next year! I've got a suggestion, though. A lot of people were posting scenes, but there wasn't much in the way of feedback. You should up the ante for a free class. Each prompt, participants should 1. post a scene and 2. give feedback on at least one other scene. That feedback should include at least one thing that worked really well and one suggestion to improve the scene. I think this would encourage a more collaborative environment and help the writers get a feel for how people respond to their work.

Scott, I would certainly do this again next year, and I second N D's comment about feedback. Writing is nothing without being read! A series on dialogue would be interesting. It could be fun and challenging to be given a scene description (characters, goals, and basic beats) and have us come up with the dialogue. Another idea for a dialogue series could be centered on style. For instance, write a monologue like Diablo Cody or a dialogue like Tarantino. Or take a scene from a 50s movie and update the dialogue to modern times and vise versa.

I enjoyed the challenge. I made a goal to do all 20 scenes and I completed them. I think the dialogue exercise would be fun as well. The only thing I would like in the future is more feedback. I know that can be difficult for you Scott to do solely on your own, but feedback/constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. My voiceover scene was one where I would have appreciated feedback since I was a first timer with voice over. Nonetheless thanks for the scene writing challenge. See you in class!

I love love love love love these kinds of things. Especially in the summer when the kiddos are out of school and life runs amok. This lets me write without commitment (even though just getting 10 kicked my ass) and keeps my bwainz from atrophying. Thank you sooooo incredibly much for this series, the offer of free class, and THIS BLOG!
