Cycles. Always cycles. We've had a good three year run. Looks like the studios and financiers have either stockpiled enough projects or they've decided to pull back on original material for the time being. Even if that's the case, that won't last. There will always be a need for spec scripts. Besides, we may have a big 2nd half of the year. That happened a few years back where 60+ specs sold in like 5 months, including 20 in one month. Then there's this. There are a lot of deals that don't get reported, many of them options which are for less money, but still deals. Plus there's no reporting of spec script that get writers represented or used as writing samples to secure open writing assignments. So I don't think the sky is falling, just a temporary lull. In fact one studio -- Sony -- has been super active in the spec market this year. Cycles. It always comes back to cycles.
