Positively love his movies. You forgot One, Two, Three with Cagney.

SM, haven't forgotten One, Two, Three, just didn't include it in the list. Wilder has some interesting comments about Cagney in the Conversations book. They didn't have the most comfortable relationship, politically at opposite ends of the spectrum. But he praised Cagney as an actor and he was great in One, Two, Three.

I'd like to add one comment to the final scene. It's all done in one shot starting wide and closing in on Bud and Fran when they are sitting down in the couch. All the time Fran keeps her coat on. It's only when Bud says he absolutely adores her, that Fran looks at him, tells him to shut up and deal and ONLY THEN she takes off her coat. She doesn't take it off when she walks in the apartment, she doesn't take it off when she's thinking about playing cards. It's only when she hears him say he absolutely adores her. That moment says so much more than a kiss. What a perfect ending!
