Looks like you inadvertently stumbled on the first step in bug triage - show it to someone else and it'll work perfectly. I've done it so many times myself.

My first thought when reading of your troubles was that some crucial Google server had gone down - and now it's back up. But it's hard to say. Very squirrely, this Internet thingy.

Yesterday I did receive that strange message about your site being under construction, however, since you mentioned you had something special that might happen soon I thought we were in for a surprise -- so I put on my patient cap. It works just fine today. Ok, I missed reading your blog yesterday - it's inspirational.

Thanks again,

Julie

I can report that you appeared in all your usual splendor and glory yesterday, and I see you today, too -- RR

Thanks for talking me off the proverbial ledge yesterday. At first, of course, you worry that all the posts would have disappeared. Once that concern was alleviated, I then found myself thinking of how to live in parallel universes, where some people could see the blog and I basically couldn't. But now it's all better. Again thanks for the comments and emails.

Yes, I saw that weird under construction thingy. Had a wee panic attack, realised how addicted I am to the blog. Glad it's back on track, Prof Myers.

this might have been the result of the sitemeter problem or the blogger spam problem.

Looks to me like you're on the money with spam. This was on the Google financial page today:Google Sees Massive Spam Spike.

I guess servers were overloaded - unless that's a cover story of course...
