I'm not THAT passionately against "Superbad," BUT it's not my cup of tea either. Actually, I kinda liked it's ending with both friends leaving each other to be with their new girlfriends. THAT was VERY cool.

Judd Apatow movies tend to not be perfect, BUT Judd usually gets more right than wrong. What I'm getting at is, I think Judd Apatow has a lot of talent, I think he just needs to get with someone he respects to hone his stories a little more.

One of my worst movies of all time was "Oceans 12" the one with Catherine Zeta Jones. I can't believe a studio can assemble such great actors and actresses and BOMB so poorly on the story they're in.
I also cringe when I think about Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes" (2002?). Growing up I was a nut for those shows. Later in life I even wrote my own "Planet of the Apes" movie, which I can't show anyone pending 21st Century Fox's approval... Tim had some cool ideas in his version, but he failed to capture that EDGE that this post-apocalyse sci-fi needs (in my opinion). Would LOVE to see my version put on the big screen. Maybe someday.

BTW, for the record, I love Julie to death, but quite simply she's wrong about SUPERBAD. I too have a teenage daughter, and I have no problem letting her see Superbad. But these movies were not made for women. At its heart, Superbad is a GUY movie, same as 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN is a GUY movie. With those two movies, Apatow gave us the blokey equivalent of PRINCESS DIARIES. I can understand how they might come across to women as misogynistic. I would argue they are only misogynistic for men who are already misogynists.

What didn't make sense at all was Pineapple Express. Superbad could at least be seen as a raunchy teen thing- Pineapple was just, well...I mean, where did that girlfriend come from? Why is she with a guy who looks like her dad? Where did she go after everything happened?
Although Red was funny.

A Fine Mess...I was at the premiere, my writing prof got me in. It was so bad, Ted Danson tried to sneak out during his own movie. Little kids who were laughing at it were sheparded down to the front rows, as if this would convince us that it was funny and we were just missing something.

If anyone puts Terminal Virus on their list, I will personally buy them a dog at Fab's this weekend.
