I'm really looking forward to this. Some of my writer friends were appalled when I told them how much I enjoyed the two-hour movie during the summer. They couldn’t believe I watched it. Such snobbery!

Sometimes the only thing a show is supposed to be is fun. It’s about a talking car for goodness sake. I happen to think I can enjoy both Madmen and Knight Rider.

I’m amazed at how jaded and cynical people can be. Knight Rider is for the KITT in all of us. :-)

it's not snobbery or being jaded and cynical to have not enjoyed the abysmally terrible two-hour movie. a basic appreciation for storytelling can be a factor, as can a desire for interesting and non-stereotypical characters, and any kind of sense in a plot.

for some of us a ludicrously powerful nanotech update of a nostalgic talking car isn't enough.

and if the amateur-hour promos are any indication, the show is going to be worse than the movie.

Deepstructure,

I guess it’s good that you have like 200 options available to you (assuming you have cable or satellite TV) while I’m rockin’ with KITT.

That’s what makes America great, what one person sees as an abysmally terrible two-hour movie someone else sees as pure escapism.

When I tune into a show about a talking car that will apparently go through the terrible teen years, I kind of know what to expect.

Maybe you’re arguing the execution of that premise. That’s open for debate. Time will tell. I hope it’s around for a while.

i'm not sure what you mean by "200 options". yes i have cable, but even if i didn't there's quite a bit on dvd nowadays. how are you watching madmen?

i didn't say you couldn't enjoy knight rider - i said it wasn't snobbery to think it sucked.

btw, "pure escapism" and "abysmally terrible" aren't mutually exclusive.

and yes, i'm arguing execution, not premise.

Ok, if you're arguing execution it does not apply to the reaction from my friends because they were outraged by the premise. They did not feel an hour of prime time TV should be devoted to something they called silly and childish.

Perhaps if you were privy to the conversation you’d know why I chose the words I did.

I happen to be in touch with my inner child and every once in while I like to give him a dose of something that’s fun for the sake of fun no matter how poorly executed.
