I love both these ideas! For some reason, in story 1 I picture Helen having sort of fallen into the lifestyle like Leo Dicaprio in Catch Me if You Can, discovering that crime is the one thing that she has a talent for and making it up as she goes along, while Amy is a natural, she's done her homework, she's thinking long term. I wonder if there's a similar set-up with the cops chasing after them, one old dude (maybe Helen's ex) who's retired but is the only one with expertise on this, and a young dude looking to make a name for himself, but maybe he falls in love with Amy as the story continues (I can so picture Billy Crystal as the retired cop, just to hear him give exposition and slap the younger cop on the head for fallin' in love, "what's wrong with you, you got something wrong with your head, don't you? You shove crayons up there as a kid or something? Nephew of mine did that, now he works as a bagboy. But he sneezes rainbows, which is a neat little party trick"). I'm kinda leaning towards the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels feel for it, they're in Europe, going from one cool locale to another, playing funny interesting characters, etc. And of course at the end, the cops and the robbers both take part in the final heist together, the cops do it to catch the thieves in the act, and we all know how that ends. Billy: I'm not going with you, I got a life, I got family... Helen: I have 28 million dollars. Billy: ...and they never call, no letters, can't be bothered to pick up a pen... Idea #2 sounds fun as well, there are just so many possibilities... I was honestly a little shocked reading the list, I can't believe those actresses are that age now. It's kind of depressing. That realization might play into the emotional arc of the story, as well as in some of the motivation. I'm trying to think of how to play with the casino robbery format, though I don't know if it does need to be altered that much... they can't do the stunts and split-second stuff from your typical heist flick, I think they're going to be out-thinking the competition more than anything else.

Reminds me a little of Bubba Ho-Tep, with a mummy haunting a retirement home and the only two people who can stop it... old man Elvis and black JFK. Good flick.

Interesting that Doris got caught. Is she losing her touch? A victim of technology? Did she want to get caught? Perhaps missing the notoriety?

There was a great issue of Astro City (they're all great) about a thief who pulls off the perfect crime, but can't enjoy the success because no one knows what he did.
