What do you mean? I loved 'Piranha'!

Those 5 minutes I watched it on the SciFi channel were the best 5 minutes of my life.

Sayles started out in the movie business after writing 2 novels and some short stories. Piranha and The Lady in Red he wrote for Roger Corman. That landed Sayles his first - and only - studio writing-directing gig, the movie Baby It's You. He didn't have final cut and the studio re-cut the movie. Sayles has directed his own movies independently, thirteen in all -- although as noted he still writes / rewrites major studio projects.

I have that Night Skies script of Sayles he mentions at the end if interested?
