Ransom Riggs also wrote the "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" series based off old photographs - now being made into a Tim Burton film by Fox.

I think this idea could go well as either a monster horror or as a scary comedy. So I thought why not go the full Melinda and Melinda: show two versions of the same story, interlinked between them, but one version is horror and the other is comedy. It would be a really interesting exercise.

I really like your JURASSIC PARK spin, that's a cool PG-13 idea. Here's my R pitch (GATEWAY): the island's haunting/deadly reach is expanding, more and more people are being killed by poltergeists/phantoms within an ever-increasing radius. While searching the island looking for answers, a team finds a secret Chapel in the asylum, only to discover it was protecting a gateway to hell. Years of neglect to the sealed gateway has caused it to erode and given hell its expanding reach. If the team isn't able to reseal the gateway (with the help of a resistant Priest) in X hours/days, it will truly be "hell on Earth." And poltergeists are just Hell’s low level "scouts." The team must battle an ever increasing deadly array of creatures. Not sure Cerberus should get in on the action, but coming up with different levels of demons, creatures, etc. coming out of Hell would be a fun exercise. I like this as a Limited TV Series, too. 10 episodes to really dive into and expand everything. Or, there’s supposed to be 7 Gates to Hell (http://beforeitsnews.com/paranormal/2012/10/where-are-the-7-gates-of-hell-located-2444316.html), so seven 10-episode seasons with a new location each season (I won’t be able to buy a mansion in Malibu with only 1 season, right?). It’d be kind of a DIG meets SUPERNATURAL/GRIMM. Anyone interested, I’d be happy to write the pilot ;) I did say it was a pitch.

Good point, Jacob. Sometimes visuals inspire stories, locations especially. One of my movies got its start from an image of a polar bear in Alaska. Fascinating creatures in a fascinating environment. Story ideas are EVERYWHERE!

That would be an interesting creative exercise: Horror. Comedy.

Frankie, go for it. Being an old fart, one of the associations I make with it is the TV series "Night Stalker". Your take sounds like an original pilot waiting to happen!
Frankie Hollywood at 2015-04-04 12:42:09:
I'm actually just finishing up my 2nd pilot, it's called NIGHTMARE. Funny, someone on another blog said NIGHTMARE reminded them of NIGHT STALKER. Here's some posters I made for NIGHTMARE: https://plus.google.com/photos/117107083754874437412/albums/6115037817997912881?banner=pwa Maybe NIGHTMARE and GATEWAY could be a 2 HR block of horror.

Here is the 1972 TV movie which served as a pilot for Night Stalker. Like the posters!

Hey, contact my e-mail "iamdeontamoss@gmail.com" if you'd like to work on this idea with me. I have a strong feeling that this could be something brilliant. Thanks a lot.
Frankie Hollywood at 2015-07-23 20:36:29:
Glad you like the idea. I already started writing the pilot, I'm almost at the 3rd act. I came up with a lot of crazy stuff, should be good awesome.
Scott at 2015-07-23 20:38:07:
Trace, I post these story ideas because they're concepts I'm not particularly interested in writing. I have my own private list of ideas for stories I DO want to write. But feel free to run with this and good luck!
Trace at 2015-07-24 15:30:31:
Okay, glad you went ahead with it. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Trace. I appreciate the encouragement. My other pilot I was talking to Scott about (Nightmare), just today made it to the Finals of the People's Pilot contest: http://tvwriter.net/?p=27779&utm_source=MadMimi&utm_medium=email&utm_content=TVWriter%E2%84%A2+Announces+2015+People%27s+Pilot+Finalists&utm_campaign=20150723_m126687874_TVWriter%E2%84%A2+Announces+2015+People%27s+Pilot+Finalists&utm_term=CLICK+YOUR+WAY+HERE Looking to put some HORROR on the tube. Hopefully (new title) The 1st Gate and Nightmare will be a 2 hour scarefest you'll see soon.
