A Masters of Divinity degree? Wow, cool. I envy you. Glad to hear you followed your heart. Glad to know that your first script, K-9, sold. Wow, you are blessed.

Your theories of writing are RIGHT ON, Scott. Sometimes a story's "magic" comes easy, sometimes it takes a while. For me the key is to LIVE in the story you're writing. Be a part of it, in someway. Perservere and keep thinking, tossing arround ideas untill the story picks the path it wants to follow. There is nothing more rewarding than creating a character, having that come alive and let you experience their joys and pains.

Isn't it interesting the different paths we take to achieve our dreams? There are so many great opportunities available for screenwriters and with just a little web surfing, they are easy to find. When trying to perfect a screenplay (if that's even possible) it's invaluable to have feedback on your script instead of just working in a vacuum. For those just starting out, that can be a tough thing to find. There are some film schools that offer such services. One that I found is Film Connection, http://www.film-connection.com/screenwriting_sub.html . They offer one on one mentoring and their coure is available all over the US and Canada.

Agreeing with this mantra 2000%. Magic is where it's at, where it comes from, and where it will be.
