I actually probably can't attend this event, but I'd like to add my words of encouragement regardless since I am also about to embark on writing my first screenplay (due in no small part to the helpfulness found on this site). In this collective dream of ours, we get to think up entire new worlds, new people, new lives. We are bold to suggest we can do such a thing for a living. But never forget that writing a story means rewriting your own. And never listen to those who cannot strum up the courage to live in their own fantasy, to allow the ridiculousness of our dreams to carry us away to a more fulfilling and vivid world where our words have the power of creation. That is what separates us, defines us. That is what makes us writers.
