Just had my attorney say the words "don't sign this" yesterday. Every writer should do their research, read the contract carefully, and have an attorney read the deal. Even one that isn't an entertainment lawyer can give you some advice/guidance.

Ouch!! It hurt just to read that. Note to self: Get a damn good lawyer, and don't forget those four little words :)

Hey Scott, I noticed on IMDb you and Siegel were credited with "characters." Does that mean anything money wi$e or is that just some kind of "courtesy?" I've seen that a lot and I've always wondered if that was a profitable credit or just a professional acknowledgement. Thanks

Ouch! I feel your pain. That's the trouble with mediocre lawyers, people who don't think ahead. Because what doesn't exist now can exist tomorrow. What if you registrate the characters as your concept just like Coca Cola registrated the form of the bottle, and Nike the swing, or Disney Donald. Using them would be a sign of misuse. Maybe I'm thinking ahead of it. Scott, can you shed some light on screenplay by..and story by...What does that mean financially?
