Matthew, I hope writers are reading your series and taking notes! So many people start off writing highly derivative work--you aren't alone in that--but it seems like most people don't seem able to absorb and internalize the advice to write their own story. I hope the stark example of your experience will help make this lesson clear for people who are trying to break in.

Yes, Scott, a great introduction to Matthew, and thanks to Matthew for letting us share in his thoughts. And it is fantastic news for you Matthew, really wish you all the best with Cassian. It is a great inspiration for us writers who are setting out on our own adventures. And the advice to write, not what the studios want, but what we want....even HAVE to write, is great advice....so I am off to do just that... (Well, actually as it is heading towards midnight in the UK I'm actually going to bed, but I get to it in the morning!)

Matthew, Thanks very much for writing this journal for us. I'm really pleased the first fellowship went to someone so committed, and who's already got lessons they've learned and can pass on.
