Scott, I read somewhere (very recently) that when Casablanca was made the Hays code prevented an ending that would have allowed Rick and Ilsa to stay together because she was a married woman. Do you know if there is any truth in the above and if so, do you think it influenced the writers to end it in the way they did? I guess what I am getting at is that this classic ending could well have been developed because of the restrictions of the era... Cheers, TheFifthApe
