Chroa at 2014-01-06 18:11:35:
My guess is that, with all the adaptations that flopped this past year, we'll see a few more spec sales this year - but not many. Hmm...I'll be conservative, and estimate 104.

blueneumann at 2014-01-06 18:18:46:
105. And I was going to say that before I saw Chroa's numbers, so I'm not trying to Price Is Right that person. We're seeing a slow build-up to 2011 numbers, there might be some contraction but I think quality combined with one or two new purchasing entities will make up for that.

Shaula Evans at 2014-01-06 18:43:46:
My guess is 97. And I'd love to be wrong because the number turns out to be much higher.
jannagummo at 2014-01-06 19:03:01:
Scott! I was so close... I am gonna stick with last years number... 102 :-) Here's hoping I add to that number. Oh reason for 102... just think it is a good number.
Dean Scott at 2014-01-06 19:04:38:
I'll go for 107

I believe we be a bit lower this year so unfortunately I am going with a 95.
Kevin Carlson at 2014-01-06 20:58:25:
I think spec script sales will stay steady as people search for commercially viable alternatives to blockbuster sequels and adaptations - I'm hoping 106 get sold this year.

writerhaha at 2014-01-06 23:22:03:
I pick 111. My reasoning is that with the 2015 slate being sequels and remakes 2014 will yield a larger number of originals bought. Also I only have number key.

125. I think we'll see corporate Hollywood embrace more lower budget stories rather than risk the farm on as many high budget events. The success of Paranormal vs. the tank of Lone Ranger. At some point, investors are going to look at the P/E and realize that hedging with 5 smaller films will offer a better return than risking it all on just one that everybody in the world will have to see twice just to cover costs. Why not this year?
Mark Walker at 2014-01-07 10:07:16:
Haha.....this sounds like I am copying, but I-ve had 97 in my mind for this.....so I am hoping Shaula brings me luck.....although it is more likely I've just jinxed her.....

I'm going with 101. Mainstream films seemed a little stale this year so I think specs will at least hold their own. Not guessing much higher, however, because I don't think the nabobs realize yet that they need more new blood.
