What's everyone's take on changing lanes while writing a first draft? Take this scenario: You get 60 pages into a first draft. Things are going great. All of a sudden, a bolt of creative lightning strikes you. A fundamental change to the story that would seriously take the script up to another level. Only it requires going back to retool the first act. Do you continue on and write the last thirty pages as outlined? Even though you'll probably wind up scrapping much of it? Or do you go back and retool? What would you do?
