Not so such a hidden gem as a forgotten classic: one of my 10 favorite films, directed by someone who should have been given far more opportunities in Hollywood. imho, this movie should be required viewing for any indie film maker trying to make quirky, small town, fish out of water dramedies. And as for the ending... has a crueler scene ever been committed to celluloid? btw, If you haven't seen it, check out Breaking In, also directed by Bill Forsyth, with a de-wigged Burt Reynolds as a master cat-burglar.

I still love the final scene in this film. I always thought it was interesting because he goes to the window and overlooks the city, which is beautiful. But it's just not the same. Just not the same as the countryside.

It is a magic, magic movie. Watched it again about a year ago and it still captivates.
