Great post Bretton, love this film. "Stumbled" across it years ago but was really taken with it, from the writing to the direction to the action. And I agree, the film does a great job of making you sympathise/empathise with an ,essentially unlikeable character....although having an even less pleasant partner and having a nice side, helps us root for him a little (probably also helps that it is Kevin Costner! :-)). And yeah....perfect ending I think....or at least, as good an ending as you can have hoped for!
