And we wonder why voiceover has a bad name! But on the other hand... offered Dune to adapt, what would we have done? It's a monstrously complicated epic with endless invented language and people with special powers that have to be explained and defined. I wouldn't have wanted to have to solve that conundrum...

Debbie, you're right about the conundrum, and honestly, who knows how many writers worked on the script w/o credit? I think in searching for the script online for this week's DD, I found references to draft 5, 7 and 9. As we know, so many people involved in making the movie... BTW: I've researched/watched hundreds of film/tv from India and Asia and they have no problem with characters talking to themselves, repeatedly! I wonder how it became a "proceed with caution" in modern US film.
