I think that was the IMDB for Avatar, not Hunger Games :), but, otherwise, have to agree with the factors that make Katniss a character any actor would love to get their hands on!
It's something of a blueprint for "creating an empathetic character." Making the situation bigger than the character, so her success is that much more incredible, but, at the same time, creating the set-up that would permit her to do something extraordinary with the skills and characteristics she has. That these are skills and attributes that almost anyone *could* develop with sufficient effort creates an even better character.
Oddly, for a booklover like me, I liked the movie better than the book. Not my usual response, but, the movie adroitly eliminated some of the things that the book leaves you groaning over.
