I, too, am a very loose outliner because like you mentioned I like to see what the characters have to say in the writing. Also, this quote was extremely helpful, “If you’re a writer, you have to write. If you are actively writing, and constantly coming up with new samples, and rewriting them, and making sure that you’re great, you are immediately setting yourself ahead of 99 percent of the pack."
