A lovely remembrance, Scott. I'm sorry for your loss. My thoughts and well wishes go out to his family. I really really REALLY hate cancer. It claimed my mother about 8 years ago and I still hate even hearing the word 'cancer'.

Scott, I'm so sorry for your loss, and for the loss to Laure-Anne, their family, friends and colleagues. Jim Rohn has a theory that you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with. It sounds like you and Kurt were great influences on each other, and if Jim Rohn is right, that Kurt lives on in you in a way, too. This is a beautiful remembrance, and that's a beautiful poem. I look forward to reading more. You've had a hell of a year. I hope there's a lot of battery recharging coming up and a whole ton of grade-A free range organic mojo for you.

Aw! I am so sorry to hear about your loss, Scott and to Laure Anne and the rest of Kurt's family. The poem is beautiful and you guys sound like you have had an incredible, long-lasting friendship and there are not many of those that come along in a person's lifetime. Look forward to reading more pearls and remembrances through the week.

Very sorry for your loss Scott. I hope they got the courvoisier in upstairs. (which could roughly translate and forgive me if I'm wrong to heart-wise, apt beverage for your friend.)

The best and most important in the seen and unseen can never be spoken, but they can be charged to life as they are in this beautiful poem. Touching, touched, and sorrowful for your loss in this sharing of the man's memento. Heart, light, healing, and comfort to you and those who loved this man.

Hi, Scott -- I'm so sorry to hear of Kurt's passing. You have been kind enough to share his poetry with us for as long as I've known you. It is terrible to lose such a friend, and it's more terrible not to have such a man among us. I'll be looking for your midnight posts full of memories and life. My sympathies to you, to Laure-Anne and to all those who loved him. And an echoing God Speed to Kurt, who is there, I am sure, Deacon Delirio.

My heart is heavy for you ... my deepest condolences ... Thank you for sharing this.

What a blessing to have known someone like that in your life. Rest in peace, Kurt. My sincerest condolences, Scott.

Losing friends is tough. The first time I lost one I understood the expression "my heart sank" and "gutted"... what an odd metaphysical feeling. So sorry about your friend. I hope all his family and friends find the strength and resilience to smile again soon... Here's my absolute favorite poem that, upon reflection, kinda does sound like death (Robert Frost): Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.

Sorry to hear of Kurt's passing. It is always sad when someone who has had such an impact on so many people's lives leaves us. But what a legacy he leaves you through his poetry, a legacy that means he will never truly be gone. Rest in Peace.

Very sorry for your loss, Scott. That's a great poem--the U.S. as one big National Park is a phrase I expect will rattle around with me for a while. I look forward to the rest. I had a good friend my age--and fellow writer--die of cancer this past November, after he had seemed to be recovering. There is nothing to do but keep going. Doesn't make it any easier.
