The more I break down of scripts the more I realize that every one is a little different and there isn't a real formula. i think this one breaks into 5 sections - the section up to meeting Viola, the section until she kisses him, the section until Queen tells Wessex Viola has been “plucked, the section until Viola and recites the missing scene and the last when Will throws himself into the role of Romeo.
The first two sections follow a usual form, but the next section - when she kisses him on the boat and their love affair begins, in a way completes much of his need. He has his muse and he's able to write but he's lying to himself - he is also told (in the same boat scene) that the love is doomed. Following that section he is when everything begins to fall apart. He is bombarded with bad things happening until he finally admits the truth and completes the play with its true ending. When he finally admits it things begin to turn around. After that he goes into a funk, but what he knows has to play out does.
The final section works as a kind of denouement, where he gets one last chance to say goodbye, but also gets the proper recognition of his work.
Such a fun script to analyze.
