The sequence with Carl and Ellie is simply beautiful storytelling. And I totally agree with Scott. The subtle 'show' insights into both characters is sublime. As screenwriters we should put our characters through a mini movie and 'see' how they react. Once you can do this with the main characters, or even supporting characters, in a script, you will have multi-dimensional, fleshed out characters, not loose cliches. Each character should have their own movie in your head, we just choose the most important POV of the protagonist to show the world our story Great, great post Scott. Got me thinking a lot today. Jay

I love Carl and Ellie and Russell and the dog and the bird. Up is a film of so much heart, it's strange to me that it doesn't read that way from the synopsis.
