I wasn't this excited since 1999.

Scott, before the submissions start rolling in, do you have any guesses or predictions about them? How may entries, which genres will predominate, geographic range of the finalists, etc.? I know you won't want to skew the submissions but you might want to put your guesses in an envelope and compare them once the dust settles. This isn't a guess so much as a hope: my fingers are crossed that with the new constraints and all of the support for entrants this year that you see a distinct rise in the overall quality of submissions!
Scott at 2013-05-21 23:03:09:
The only guess I have is that there will be less submissions this year than last, simply because I'm not giving away a free Core or Craft class for every person entering. A nod to sanity on my part! I'm hoping people really raise their game. Ask those tough and necessary questions: Is this REALLY a movie? Can I imagine it REALLY opening on 3,000 screens? Can I REALLY see it on a movie screen? Do I REALLY believe a director and actors would be attracted to the story? I hope folks can take a critical eye at their loglines. I know I surely will. This isn't about charity. It's about trying to find the right combination of writers, talent, story concepts and my gut sense they have what it takes to succeed as a professional screenwwriter. Excited to see what transpires. Starts in just over an hour!

Scott, Are these loglines from scripts not written or can we send logs from finished scripts? Thanks in advance.
Scott at 2013-05-22 11:42:59:
You may submit loglines for finished scripts as long as you are willing to go back to the very beginning of the writing process and rewrite the script completely during our time together in The Quest.
