Pretty good, if you include all Shane Black's stuff :)

A Christmas script was the first screenplay I got optioned.

I'm so happy someone asked this question!! I've had a few Christmas themed story ideas swirling around my head for a few years and I really want to write one of them. This is a great insight into that market.

As a follow up, Scott...how is the spec market for animated movies? I have a few animated ideas brewing, but I get the feeling that those are all set up at studios.
Scott at 2013-05-20 09:37:58:
Much tougher. First of all, even with rise in numbers of releases and studios producing animated movies the last decade or so, still a small total. Also not that many buyers. Plus most of them develop in-house. Dredging through my memory cells, I can only recall 2, perhaps 3 animated spec script deals in the last 5 years. Much better to target live-action story. But if you REALLY have passion for an animated story and you feel in your GUT it is a movie, then you should follow your muse. If nothing else, it could be a strong writing sample. And you never know. If it's a great script...
