Great post, another Voice observation: When reading scripts, I sense/hear the screenwriter's Voice the strongest in their "unfilmable" aka, visual writing choices. Traci, that's a great point. In the Core: Style class I teach, we focus on Narrative Voice [Genre + Style = NV] and that becomes the foundation for approaching scene description. Per so-called unfilmables, you can use psychological writing [essentially commenting on the moment] and imagematic writing [active verbs, vivid descriptors] to convey the take of the NV per that particular story. We must never forget our job is to entertain a reader. A compelling and vibrant Narrative Voice goes a long way in doing that, as well as articulating our own writer's voice as well.
