I've always loved this movie. Long before the internet made scripts available, I used to go to Hollywood Book and Poster. They had LOTS of scripts available for sale on request (still do, even via email request--they're on the web, and they've got stuff the web script sites have never had). I remember getting BODY HEAT. There's a moment in the film that is pure Kasdan that only remains in the picture because Kasdan was able to direct his own script. William Hurt as Ned Racine is crossing a street, and a car comes past driven by a guy in full clown makeup and costume. Racine just stares at him as he goes by as if to say, "Is that me?" I've always wondered if Kasdan put Wm. Hurt in the makeup and made him the driver Racine stares at. If I ever get a chance to ask him, that would be my first question.

You are so right about that clown scene in "Body Heat" Lee. I love how Lawrence Kasdan just throws it in there without explanation - leaving it open to interpretation. William Hurt's character does seem to make an eery realization there. Very visual. No dialogue needed. And thanks for recommending Hollywood Book and Poster. I love coming across great sources for hard to find screenplays. I'm glad they are still in business.
